To show you where Hayes's mind currently is . . .
Eleanor, Hayes and I were discussing some strong storms that were passing through Atlanta. They were pretty fierce with lots of lightning and thunder. Eleanor was getting a scared (as usual) and said, "I really don't like lightning." Hayes was quick to retort and said, "I do. I LOVE Lightning McQueen."

Disney's Amazing Infiltration in Everday Discussions
Eleanor's "Speech"
Eleanor wrote a speech today. It consisted of a bunch of squiggly lines on a sheet of paper so I had her read to me what she intended it to say. She said the following:
"Thank you for letting me be in kindergarten. I always like it the best. I hope I go to kindergarten every year. I want to go to Morris Brandon for college. It is fun there and I like my new friends. It is the best school in the whole world."
Shortly thereafter, we sat down for dinner. Eleanor said our blessing as usual. Part of her blessing consisted of more of the same . . . but with a twist. . . "Dear God, . . . I love kindergarten. Everyone else loves themselves . . ."
I think we can confidently say that she enjoys school. She decided to embellish the written version of her speech with pretty flourescent marker and now plans on presenting it to her teacher, Mrs. Howell, in the morning.

First Day of Kindergarten
Just to document for future reference . . . Some photos from her first day of kindergarten . . .
Eating a hearty breakfast . . .
Getting ready to walk to school with Maddy and Francie . . .
Hayes wanted to join in the fun . . .
Getting settled at her table . . .
After Eleanor got home from her first day of school at Morris Brandon, she called her dad at work and gave him a full report of her day. She declared it, and I quote, "the best day ever". Twelve years from now, she'll have to look back and this and remember that she did once love school.
